Websites for electricians, built by a sparky

I'm Joe, a registered electrician running Level Up Electrical in Whenuapai. I build websites for other sparkies the way I'd want mine: your number one tap away, the jobs you actually want more of, and nothing a customer could catch out as made up.

What a homeowner checks before ringing a sparky

They've got a dead circuit, a heat pump quote to get, or an EV arriving next month. They search, open three or four sites on their phone, and ring whichever one looks legit and easy. Here's what decides it, and what goes on every electrician site I build:

You're registered, and they can check

Your registration and practising licence details, and a link to the EWRB public register. Master Electricians membership if you have it. Customers have heard the horror stories about unlicensed work.

The jobs you want more of

Switchboard upgrades, heat pumps, EV chargers, rewires, solar and batteries, fault finding, new builds. Each with its own section so a search for "EV charger install North Shore" lands on the right bit.

Where you'll actually go

Your service area named suburb by suburb, in plain words. Not a page for every suburb in Auckland: Google treats that as spam now, and customers can tell.

Proof from real jobs

Your own photos (a tidy board is the best advert a sparky has), your Google reviews, and paperwork you provide as standard, like a Certificate of Compliance. No stock photo of a lightbulb.

Call first, form second

A sticky call button on mobile and a four-field quote form for people who can't call during work hours. The form goes straight to your phone.

Fast, secure, current

Loads in a second or two on mobile data, https with no warnings, and a footer that doesn't say 2017. All of it counts toward where Google puts you.

Electrical sites I've built

Have a look on your phone, that's where it counts.

I also built Knack, a voice-powered quoting app for electricians and security installers. Websites are the side of the business that gets the phone ringing; Knack is the side that turns the call into a quote.

Why get a sparky to do it

An agency will ask you to fill in a brief about your "unique selling proposition". I already know the difference between a board upgrade and a meter move, why "fully licensed" means nothing without a registration number, and that plenty of your best jobs come from customers whose last sparky never called back. You spend about fifteen minutes on a call and send your photos. I write it.

Free first look: send me your current site and I'll build a concept homepage from your real details, sent as a private link. If you don't like it, that's the end of it.

What it costs

Same price for every trade. $1,490 + GST once (half up front, half before it goes live, first 12 months of hosting and care included), or $129/month + GST with nothing up front: 12 payments and it's yours, then $49/month care, month to month. Up to five pages, a quote form to your phone, your Google Business Profile set up free.

Straight answers

Do I need a website if I get all my work from word of mouth?

Word of mouth still ends in a Google search. Someone gets your name from a neighbour, looks you up, and if all they find is an old Facebook page or a site that breaks on their phone, a fair few ring the next sparky instead. The site's job is to not lose the work you've already earned.

Can you set up separate pages for EV chargers or heat pumps?

Yes. Up to five pages are included; most electricians use them for home, services, about, gallery and contact, with each service getting its own section. If one service is a real money-maker, like EV chargers or solar, a dedicated page is $150 extra.

Will I show up on Google?

For "electrician near me" searches, the map listings come first, and they run off your Google Business Profile. I set that up or tidy it as part of every build, linked to the new site. The site itself is built to Google's requirements: fast, mobile-first, structured data, plain-words services and areas. Nobody honest can promise a position, but this is the groundwork.

I'm on Wix or another builder. Can you move me?

Yes. The new site is built while the old one stays live, then your domain gets pointed at it. Your email keeps working, and you can let the builder plan run out instead of cancelling early.

Do you put my registration number on the site?

Yes, if you want it there, with a link to the EWRB public register so customers can check it themselves. Nothing gets added that you haven't supplied: no made-up years in business, memberships or reviews.

Want more calls from your website?

Send through your current site and you'll get a free homepage concept back within a couple of days. I'm on the tools during the day, so replies land in the evening.
